Rhizome Sale:
This event is the major fund raising event for the Can-West Iris Society. It occurs late in July or early in August each year. The Organizing Committee purchases iris from major Canadian and select American sources for the sale and makes them available to members at a reasonable cost.
Many varieties cannot be found at garden centers locally and the sale is a way to provide members with new and exciting varieties from cutting edge hybridizers both in Canada and from around the world.The sale listing and photo file is posted to the Open Forum list and sale notices sent out to other major gardening sites. Orders are then received and processed as they come in and iris sent out. The sale runs for about a week and early orders are encouraged in order for members to get the selections they want.
Membership fee and renewal fees are to be sent in along with the iris order. The membership year runs from August 1st to July 31st and is $5 per year. Members can sign up for a single year or for multiple years if they wish. Rhizome orders are not required in order to be a member but only members can purchase iris rhizomes. Should a person not wish to purchase iris in a given year, they just have to send in the membership fee.
